From exhilarating water parks to breathtaking sand sculptures carved into the landscape, there are plenty of must-visit adventure parks across the Algarve. 1. Krazy World
Krazy World lives up to its name, offering tons of ways for both kids and adults to enjoy themselves at this awesome theme park. There’s a zoo, which features alligators, monkeys, pythons, and birds of prey — and plenty of opportunities to interact with some of the tamer creatures in the petting farm. And when you’re done, you can zipline over to the rest of the attractions: mini-golf, paintball, and pedal karts. Located in central Algarve, it’s easy to get to Krazy World from anywhere in the Golden Triangle. Tickets start at €15.25 for an adult or €8.95 for a child if you book online. Aquashow is the largest theme park in Portugal. Part hotel, part waterpark, part relaxing retreat, there’s something for everyone at Aquashow. It’s also based in the heart of the Golden Triangle, making it the perfect trip for anyone staying in a villa in Vilamoura, Almancil, or Quinta Do Lago . With rollercoaster rides, huge water slides, and a massive wave pool, kids and adrenaline-seeking adults alike will love Aquashow. There’s also a tropical pool and jacuzzi for those who prefer a more relaxed vibe. Tickets start at €29 for adults and €21 for kids. Free admission for under 5s.
3. Family Golf Park
The Algarve is a hugely popular golfing destination for serious amateurs and pros alike — but there’s no reason why the whole family can’t join in the fun. At Family Golf Park in Vilamoura, you can play one of two 18-hole minigolf courses, depending on the difficulty level you’re looking for (true golf fanatics can even play both). There’s also a games room, terrace, and outdoor playground to keep you and the kids entertained all day. Plus, the miniature train will take you all around Vilamoura, so you can explore the entire town with ease. Play one course for €17 (adults) or €12 (children).
Lots of kids dream of swimming with dolphins — and at Zoomarine, you can make it happen. With their specialist Dolphin Emotions encounters, you can meet dolphins up close in the water. There’s also a butterfly garden and walkthrough habitats for sloths and macaws, offering many opportunities to get up close and personal with the wildlife. Zoomarine also offers summer camps, so kids can head off for the day and spend time at the Zoomarine lagoon, while parents head off and explore the rest of the Algarve’s wonders. Stand in awe of some of the most striking sand sculptures ever created at Lagoa’s Sand City. With sculptures of everything from Willy Wonka to Marilyn Monroe, there are worlds to explore at Sand City. Travel from Hollywood to the Jurassic era via incredible scenes like the 1969 moon landing and musical icons like Amy Winehouse. Sand City is the largest theme park of its kind in the world — so don’t miss your chance to visit. Adult tickets start at €11.90, with children’s entry starting at €5.90.
Slide & Splash has been closed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic — but it’s due to reopen this summer. Also located in Lagoa, this awesome water park boasts rides like the Corkscrew, Disco River, and Tornado — so whatever your speed, you’re sure to have a great day at Slide & Splash. With extensive grounds and a lagoon pool, you can also spend the day relaxing with a cocktail while the kids take to the slides. Adult tickets start at €24.65. Children’s tickets start at €17.85.
